Lawngtlai Police observed a 'Police Commemoration Day' along with the rest of the country at Lawngtlai Police Station under the auspices of Superintendent of Police (SP) Pu Amit Goel, IPS, today and paid homage to martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty between September 2018 and August 2019.
During this period, 292 police personnel laid down their lives in the line of duty in the whole country. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) suffered the most and lost 67 of their personnel. Jammu & Kashmir was the highest among the states where 24 numbers of death occurred. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in the line of duty in Mizoram.
Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on 21st October since 1960 to commemorate the sacrifices of ten policemen while defending the borders with China in 1959 at Hot Spring in Ladakh.
There are 142 police personnel posted in Lawngtlai District as of now.
