Hon’ble Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana launched Mizoram Tourist Police on 18th October 2019 (Friday) which will be responsible for safety and security of the tourists during their travel , stay and visit to various Tourist destinations in the state. He also flagged-off the Tourist Police Vehicles at the inauguration event held on 18th October 2019(Friday) at 3:00 PM at Arya Mess, Police Headquarters, Aizawl. The event was attended by Pu Robert Romawia, Minister of State for Tourism Department, as Guest of Honour, Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo IAS as Special Guest and other high dignitaries of the Police department and other sister Departments.

Mizoram Tourist Police comprises of police personnel trained in soft skills, communication skills and equipped with knowledge of tourist places. The Tourist Police will initially be deployed in five(5) major tourist attractions:

Entry and Exit Point at Lengpui Airport,

Solomon’s Temple, Aizawl,

Millennium Centre, Aizawl,

Thenzawl, Serchhip District,

Zokhawthar, Champhai District.

TOURISTS MAY SEEK HELP AS UNDER

Tourists may approach Mizoram Tourist Police (MTP)regarding tourist locations, transport systems, facilities in the destinations, legal information and other important places like shopping centres, hospitals etc.

Tourists may approach MTP Booth to seek information regarding the safety and security of their destination and ask for directions.

In the event of emergencies in a tourist place, tourists may call up MTP for immediate intervention to ensure that crimes are reported and encourage tourists to give information in that respect.

When victims are cheated, their belongings stolen or fall prey to any mischief or wrong doing, they may call MTP to lodge a police complaint.

Tourists must also remember that MTP always has a watchful eye in case tourists are involved in any illegal activity and will report the matter promptly to Police Stations.
