LUNGLEI; the 7th April,2024: Shri K.Satyanarayan, IPS Police observer and Smt. Anita Rinesh, IRS Expenditure Observer for the forthcoming general Election to the Lok Sabha (GELS-2024) jointly held a meeting with concerned officials at DC’s Conference Hall, here in Lunglei, yesterday. Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer Smt. Ramdinliani, IAS presided over the meeting.
Shri J. Lalmuankima, Superintendent of Police gave detailed reports on the preparedness of the Lunglei District in respect of security-related matters for the upcoming GELS-2024 through power point presentation. Shri Donny Lalruatsanga, Nodal officer of EEM (Election Expenditure Monitoring) & CEO, Lunglei Municipal Council also apprised the meeting of the preparedness of various Expenditure Monitoring teams. He elaborated at length on the various ongoing activities and various undertakings that have been executed as well.
The two observers expressed, in unison their happiness over the preparedness of Lunglei district for the upcoming GELS 2024, and vehemently thanked all the concerned officials, especially the DEO for her dynamic and exemplary leadership, and for leaving no stone unturned in their quest for a peaceful, free and fair election.
Police Observer Shri K.Satyanarayan, IPS generously praised the people of Mizoram for facing Election imperturbable and calmly; and said that the role played by NGOs, Mizoram People Forum (MPF) and churches for attaining transparent, peaceful, inclusive and Free & Fair election “is worthy of emulating by other states of India.” Expressing his wishes, Mizoram’s Election accounts be told to the whole of India, and added that “it’s good enough to feature even in BBC.” Narrating upon Model Code of Conduct (MCC), “even though MCC was introduced recently, it seems that MCC was inbuilt in every Mizos” and Mizoram deserved to be a role Model for Peaceful, Free and Fair Election, he quipped.
The two observers had a fruitful interaction with concerned officials; and wherein they gave nifty advice and satisfactorily answered all the queries raised by the officials as well. They informed the officials that they were not for fault- finding but to help them in clearing their doubts and confusion if they had any.
There are 6 Assembly segments and 176 Polling stations in Lunglei District; of these 176 Polling stations, 24 are to be manned by women. There are 79 Polling stations with less than 500 voters. The farthest Polling station is Marpara Polling Station, 121 Km away from the dispatch centre. Polling officials belonging to the remotest 13 Polling stations will be leaving the dispatch centre 2 days ahead of Poll day. Every Assembly segment has 2- Flying Squad teams,2- Static surveillance Teams, 1-Accounting Team,1- Video surveillance team,1- Video Viewing Team and 1- Assistant Expenditure observer each.
In this meeting, top notch Police officers, Nodal Officer for: Election Expenditure Monitoring, Model Code of Conduct, District Contact Centre, Communication Planning, vehicle, Lead Bank Manager, member Secretary MCMC, Team leaders of: Flying Squad teams, Static surveillance Teams, Accounting Team, Video surveillance team, Video Viewing Team and all the Assistant Expenditure observers were in attendance.
After the meeting at DC conference Hall was concluded, the two observers visited EVM Strong room at Saikuti Hall and Gov’t H/S at Chanmari locality wherein 4 polling stations were set up.
