There was a blast at Aizawl Centenary monument at about 01:00 AM on 13.12.2019 adjacent to Raj Bhavan. The blast created a small crater at the Aizawl Centenary monument. There was no one at the spot at the time of blast. The sound of the blast was heard by sentry duty of the CRPF posted at the Raj Bhavan and residents nearby. Some window-panes at the adjacent building Civil Aviation Wing office are also broken. FSL Team arrived at the spot and have collected samples and evidence. The exact blasting materials used for the purpose of the blast can be ascertained only after examination. However, it seems to have done using some locally available materials. In this regard, a case is registered at Aizawl Police Station and investigation in all earnest is started; searching possible clue. CCTV footage and technical data are being analyzed. Aizawl PS Case No. 674/2019 Dt. 13.12.2019 u/s 120 b/435/434/427/IPC r/w Section 3 of Explosive Substance Act 1908/ Section 3 of Damage to Property Act was registered. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate the case.
