Minister for Power and Electricity, Pu R.Lalzirliana commissioned the 132KV Melriat  to Khawiva, Lunglei line in a brief but solemn function held today at 132 KV Sub-station, Melriat.

The Power and Electricity Department has taken up the construction works of 110 kms, 132 KV Single Transmission Line from 132 KV Melriat Sub-Station Aizawl to 132 KV Khawiva Sub-Station, Lunglei since 2014. Funded by the DoNER Ministry, state matching share and the state’s flagship program - SEDP, the project worth ₹4498.06 lakhs was finally completed on 30.6.2020. The scope of the work included  110 kms 132 KV S/C Line on towers from Melriat, Aizawl to Lunglei Khawiva Sub-Station including one outgoing bay at Melriat and one oncoming bay at Khawiva, Lunglei. After it was successfully test charged on 14.8.2020, the transmission line is now fully functional.

The project thus commissioned will provide regular and quality power supply in the 3 southern districts of Mizoram - Lunglei, Siaha and Lawngtlai Districts. This will also strengthen and augment power distribution system in Aizawl, Serchhip, Lunglei and the adjoining villages by providing back up power in case of faulty power supply.
