Lunglei, July 21, 2025: A coordination meeting for the upcoming Independence Day 2025 celebration in Lunglei District was held today at the DC Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pi Navneet Mann. The meeting was attended by government officials, representatives of forces, institutions, NGOs and faith-based organisations.

Pi Navneet Mann emphasised that Independence Day is a celebration for all citizens, and called for meaningful participation from every section of society. She urged departments, schools, organisations and individuals to contribute actively and responsibly to ensure a successful and inclusive celebration.

Following the tradition of past years, various preparatory activities have been lined up. The main celebration will be held at C. Ṭhuamluaia Mual on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM. Hon'ble Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga is expected to attend as the Chief Guest. A ceremonial parade will be organised, with preparations coordinated by the SP and DEO. A ‘VIP At Home’ reception will also be held at DC Bungalow/Circuit House at 11:30 AM.

Individuals who received national or state-level recognition during 2024–2025 will be felicitated at the event. Sports tournaments are also being planned as part of the celebration. Token gifts will be distributed to hospitals, care homes and the District Jail to mark the occasion.

All government offices, schools and quarters have been instructed to display the national flag on the occasion. Government employees are expected to attend the celebration, and the public has been encouraged to join in by the District Independence Day Celebration Committee.
