Pu B. Lalchhawntluanga, MCS, Additional District Election Officer (Addl DEO), Lawngtlai briefed members of the Mizoram Journalists' Association (MJA), Lawngtlai District on the ongoing Electors Verification Programme (EVP), which is started on 1st September, 2019, today at his office chamber.

Pu B. Lalchhawntluanga explained the objectives and activities of the EVP and stressed on the importance of good media coverage for the success of the programme. Observations on the current scenario and suggestions for improvement of electoral roll of the District were also discussed.

The EVP aims at correcting the existing electors' details and registering eligible un-enrolled persons, bringing electors of same family in the same part, and thereby improving health of electoral roll so that there is an error-free electoral roll. Electors may verify their details through "voter helpline" mobile app, National Voter's Service Portal (NVSP), Common Service Centres (CSCs), Voter Facilitation Centre at ERO office and through voter helpline (1950) for PwD voters. During this programme, observations on existing polling stations and suggestions for splitting or division of stations into sections will also be entertained.
