Aizawl, the 22^nd July 2023 : Home Department, Government of Mizoram today issued the another Press Statement today which is as below :

Commissioner & Secretary, Home Department, Government of Mizoram Pu H. Lalengmawia met with office bearers of Mizo Students’ Union (MSU) headed by Pu Samuel Zoramthanpuia, President, MSU in his Office Chamber at 6:00 p.m. today i.e. 22^nd July (Saturday) to discuss the latter’s proposed exercise to collect information regarding Meiteis living and working in Mizoram.

Home Commissioner apprised the MSU representatives about the steps taken by the Government till date regarding the ethnic strife in Manipur and also the relief and rehabilitation measures taken for the internally displaced persons from Manipur who have sought shelter in the state. MSU representatives explained their proposed exercise was to collect information about Meiteis in Mizoram and was without any malicious intent. After due deliberation and discussion, MSU agreed to call off their proposed exercise on 24.7.2023 (Monday) as a confidence building measure to ensure continuation of peaceful environment in the state.
