Lunglei, 8 April 2026: The District Level Committee on NCORD, Lunglei, in collaboration with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, organised an Easter Egg Painting Competition under the theme "Ruihhlo Do" as part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the ill effects of substance abuse among children and youth. The prize distribution ceremony was held today at the DC's Conference Hall, Lunglei.

The competition was conducted on Easter Sunday, 5th April 2026, across various churches within the Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) area. Conceived as an awareness initiative, the programme encouraged children and youth to creatively convey anti-drug messages through Easter egg painting and slogan-bearing placards.

Participants from different churches took active part by designing Easter eggs and placards carrying messages against substance abuse. Winners were selected based on photographs of the entries submitted by the respective churches, and the prizes were formally distributed during today's programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei, Pi Navneet Mann, stated that the competition was not only part of the Easter celebrations but also a meaningful initiative to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among the people of Lunglei. She appreciated all participants and organisers for making the programme a success. Highlighting the harmful impact of substance abuse, she noted that drugs adversely affect both physical and mental health, deplete financial resources, and create serious challenges for families and society. She urged all citizens, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and actively support the fight against substance abuse.

The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pi Zoramdini, while Sub-Deputy Commissioner Pi Lalhlimpuii Pachuau presented a report on the competition. The prizes, along with certificates, were distributed by the Deputy Commissioner. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pu R. Lalthankima.
