After the resignation of  the outgoing Governor of Mizoram,  Prof. Jagdish Mukhi was sworn-in as the 19th Governor of Mizoram, in addition to his normal duties as the Governor of Assam. The Swearing in Ceremony  took place in the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan on 9.3.2019  at 11:00 AM. It was attended by Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga, Speaker Pu Lalrinliana Sailo, the Cabinet Ministers, the  Minister of States, the MLAs  and other dignitaries.

The Oath of Office of the Governor was administered by Justice Nelson Sailo, Judge, Gauhati High Court  while proceedings of Swearing In programme was executed by Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo. After the ceremonial function was over a short press byte  for the media persons was arranged at the corner of Raj Bhavan's Banquet Hall.  During this interaction with media persons, the new Governor  Prof. Mukhi was accompanied by Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga.  Later in the afternoon the Governor left  Aizawl for Guwahati. He will return next Monday to attend  and participate in the swearing in programme of the new Chairman, Lok Ayukta and he will address the Budget Session of  the newly formed, the 8th  Mizoram Legislative Assembly on the 12th of March, 2019.
