Lawngtlai, the 24th March,2021: A meeting of Lawngtlai District Level Committee on Disability was held today at DC's Conference Hall, Lawngtlai and was graced by Pi Vanlaldiki Sailo, Commissioner, Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

Pi Vanlaldiki Sailo highlighted various policies and schemes implemented by the government for the welfare of persons with disabilities and urged the members to commit themselves to work for their welfare.

Reports on performance and achievement regarding the welfare of persons with disabilities within Lawngtlai District were given by Samagra Shiksha, Lawngtlai District and Social Welfare Department. Social Welfare Department is implementing a Take Home Ration (THR) scheme in anganwadi centres for children with disabilities. Monthly pension benefit of Rs 400/- is being given to 60 persons under Indira Gandhi National Disable Pension Scheme. As per reports given by Samagra Shiksha, Lawngtlai District, currently there are 685 children with disabilities (366 males and 319 females) enrolled in schools under their jurisdiction.
