Promoting rural sports, a scheme under the Central Government, Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan(PYKKA) has been organised for the second time at different Rural Development Blocks in the State. 7 of the 26 RD Blocks viz. Aibawk, Thingsulthliah, Khawbung, Ngopa, Reiek, Lawngtlai and Bilkhawthlir inaugurated PYKKA yesterday, while the rest are yet to be inaugurated within the coming week.
Pu KS Thanga, Parliamentary Secretary inaugurated PYKKA yesterday at Sialsuk for Aibawk RD Block. Speaking on the occassion the Parliamentary Secretary said that Sports plays a vital role in the all round development of youths and has become a reliable source of employment. He expressed his hope that PYKKA will open doors for rural youths to participate at the national and international levels. 12 villages within Aibawk Block organised the event in 5 disciplines such as Athletics, Football, Hockey, Table Tennis and Volleyball.
PYKKA at W. Phaileng Block was also inaugurated yesterday by Pu K Sangthuama, SDO (Civil) at Phaileng where 15 villages participated in disciplines such as Athletics, Boxing, Football, Table Tennis and Volleyball. While at Khawbung, RD Block, Pu Lalrohlua, BDO inaugurated the event for 16 villages in 5 sports disciplines - Athletics, Boxing, Football, Volleyball, Table Tennis and a few Mizo traditional sports.
PYKKA at W.
