Aizawl, the 20th June 2023: Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati hosted a program to commemorate the Formation Day of West Bengal state at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, today. On June 20, 1947, the Bengal Legislative Council passed the West Bengal Bill, which led to the creation of the state.

Governor in his opening remark expressed his happiness at Raj Bhavan becoming a centre for showcasing the rich cultures of the states under the initiative of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. He extended his greeting to the participants, mostly from West Bengal who are engaged in work, businesses, or studies in Mizoram.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati spoke about the long history and rich culture of West Bengal and its people. He also spoke about the luminaries from the state who had contributed significantly to the freedom movement and all other fields for development and for India to claim its position as one of the most important countries in the world at present. Governor, then, stressed the significance of celebrating other states' Formation for national integration and how it would strengthen India as a nation, unified in diversity.

The celebration program held today started with showcasing the audio and visual highlights of West Bengal state through its history, rich culture and heritage. The audiences were also entertained by performances of dances and the exhibition of special items.
