Aizawl the 22nd July, 2026: 1. Major Methamphetamine Seizure at Khamrang Village, Kolasib
On 21.07.2026, a joint team of CID (SB) and Kolasib DEF conducted a narcotics operation along National Highway at Khamrang village, Kolasib District. During the operation, the team recovered and seized 15 kg (approximately 15 lakh tablets) of suspected methamphetamine tablets, having an estimated market value of ₹12 crore. The following four persons were arrested in connection with the seizure:
- Sailothanga Sailo (42), S/o Lianzuala (L), Venglai, Kolasib.
- Lalchhuanmawia (23), S/o SR Lalnunmawia, Gosen Veng, Kolasib.
- Vanlalthlana (32), S/o Lalchhuanawma (L), Diakkawn, Kolasib.
- Laldinpuii (43), D/o Lalrinthanga (L), Vengthar, Kolasib.
A case has been registered under Sections 22(c)/25/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985 at Kawnpui PS and further investigation is in progress.
2. Heroin Seizure at Khatla, Aizawl
On 22.07.2026, a joint operation conducted by the Special Narcotics Police Station and 34 Assam Rifles resulted in the seizure of 21.330 grams of suspected heroin at Khatla, Aizawl. The contraband was recovered from the possession of R. Lalhumhima (26), S/o Lalthakima, a native of Chhawrtui, Khawzawl District, presently residing at BSUP, Lawipu, Aizawl. A case has been registered accordingly.
3. Heroin Seizure at Sethlun, Lunglei
On Dt.21.7.2026, around 7:00 PM, a joint operation conducted by DSB Lunglei and 92 Bn BSF Zotlang, Lunglei seized 6 soap cases of suspected Heroin No. 4 weighing 71.59 grams v/o Rs.14,31,800/- at Sethlun, Lunglei from the possession of two individuals - Malsawmdawnga (33) s/o Zokunga of Champhai Vengthlang and Lalzarmawii (34) d/o F. Rotlinga of Bazar Veng, Lunglei. A case has been registered at Lunglei PS for further legal actions.
4. Major Crackdown of Methamphetamine by CID(SB)
On July 17, 2026 at around 6:00 PM, a CID (SB) Operation Team conducted a raid at New Look Restaurant, Chanmari Kawn, Aizawl. During the raid the team recovered and seized suspected Methamphetamine weighing 4.770 kg, valued at approximately ₹3.82 crores. Three persons from Karimganj District, Assam — 1) Juber Ahmed (24), 3) Md Sirajul Hoque (24), and 3) Sakir Hussain (21) were apprehended and a case was registered under section 22(c)/29(1) ND&PS Act.
Later the same day, at around 9:40 PM, the team recovered and seized suspected Methamphetamine weighing 9.016 kg, valued at approximately ₹7.21 crore near Delhi Dhaba, Thuampui, Aizawl from a vehicle driven by Malsawmtluanga (29) of Zokhawthar. A case was registered under Sections 22(c) and 25 of the NDPS Act.
The weekend operations by CID (SB) across Aizawl resulted in the recovery of a total of 13.786 kilograms of suspected Methamphetamine, with an estimated illicit market value of ₹11,02,88,000/- (approximately ₹11.03 crore).
