Aizawl the 18th November 2022: The search and rescue operation for the landslide at ABCI Quarry on 14th November, 2022 is still underway. By morning of 15th November, 2022, 8 bodies have been retrieved and PME had been done at Hnahthial Civil Hospital, and after the Officer in charge of Hnahthial Police Station had carried out all formalities, the mortal remains of the 8 victims were handed over to the ABCI authority at 6:00 p.m. on 15th November, 2022. After the completion of embalming and other formalities at Aizawl Civil Hospital, the bodies are being transported to their respective homes, 7 are to be transported via Lengpui Airport and 1 will be transported by road to Silchar. On behalf of the Government of Mizoram, Director and Deputy Director, Department of Disaster Management & Rehabilitation were detailed to tend to and bid farewell to the deceased. 2. As per the report on 15th November, 2022 at 11:00pm, 2 more bodies have been recovered, and brought to Hnahthial Civil Hospital for Post Mortem Examination (PME) and will be handed over to the ABCI authority after observing required protocols.

3. The search operation for the remaining 2 workers are still ongoing. The operation
also involves risks as the area is still prone to landslide. This issue has greatly delayed the operation, as reported from the site. Hnahthial District Authority/DDMA, Lunglei District Authority/DDMA, SDRF Team from 2 Battalion MAP, SDRF Team from 3 Battalion MAP, Assam Rifles, Lunglei (1 doctor, 1 officer and 25 Jawans), 1 Battalion NDRF, Lungverh (15 Jawans).Young Mizo Association (YMA) from nearby villages, Joint Director (Ops), Disaster Management & Rehabilitation Department and Team, Quick Response Team (QRT) from Lunglei DDMA, Border Security Force (BSF), Zotlang, Lunglei (19 Jawans) are actively engaged in the search and rescue operation. The NDRF team headed by Deputy Commandant from Guwahati has also arrived and they will assist the operation. The search operation is still undergoing vigorously for the 2 missing persons viz. Jahidur Islam s/o Sumsul Haque, 27 year old and Ajoy Chakma s/o Rangachand Chakma, 25 year old who are yet to be found and the operation will be continued expeditiously until all bodies are found.
