A ten-member Republic of the Union of Myanmar Military delegates which is visiting Mizoram on a Diplomatic Outreach programme interacted with top officials of the Government of Mizoram at Aijal Club today.

Ashish Kundra, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department, Govt. of Mizoram who presided over the meeting welcomed delegates from Myanmar by saying that the interactions between officials from the two countries would bear fruit for improved bilateral relationships between the two countries across the border.

Today's meeting was held in two-session, in the first session, Indian democracy set up and Election system were explained in detail to Myanmar delegates, officials from Election department also gave demonstration on how to operate EVM and VVPAT.

Discussions on various issues such as illegal smuggling, human trafficking, drugs & narcotics etc., across the border, cultural exchange, tourism, how to promote trade between India and Myanmar across the border were held in the second sessions.

Led by Lt. General Aung Lin Dwe, the Myanmar military delegates are Maj. General Soe Naing Oo, Maj. General Than Hlut Thein, Colonel Khin Maung Kyi, Colonel Kyaw Soe Oo, Colonel Kyaw Lin Maung, Lt. Colonel Than Soe, Lt. Colonel Khin Zaw leh Captain Thet Zin Aung. They were accompanied by officials from National Museum and Library (NMML), New Delhi.

Officials from Government of Mizoram who participated in the meeting were Pu SBK Singh, DGP, Pi Esther Lalruatkimi, Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism Department, Pu Vanlalchhuanga, Commissioner/Secretary, Finance Department, P. Jawahar, Secretary, Commerce & Industries Department, Dr. C.Vanlalramsanga, Secretary, Planning & Programme Implementation Department and Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, Secretary, Art & Culture Department.
