AIZAWL; the 8th May, 2025: A review meeting on the 'Civil Defence Mock Drill' conducted yesterday was held today at 11:00 AM, chaired by Mizoram Chief Secretary Pu Khilli Ram Meena, IAS, in the CS Conference Room. The meeting was attended via video conferencing by Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police from various districts across Mizoram.

In his opening remark, Pu Khilli Ram Meena emphasized the need for meticulous planning and preparedness to mitigate or minimize damage in the event of a war or major disaster. He highlighted the importance of setting up Advisory Committees at the state and district levels, having at least 2 satellite phones in each district, establishing hotlines, and utilizing Akashvani (All India Radio) to disseminate information to people in remote areas. He stressed that it's crucial for the public, especially students, to be aware of the significance of "blackout" during wartime. He also underscored the need for conducting awareness campaigns, particularly among students. The Chief Secretary also urged the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of each district to organize Civil Defence Mock Drills in their respective districts.

In today's meeting, Er. Lalhriatpuia, IAS, Aizawl DC and Chairman, DDMA, Aizawl district, presented a detailed report on the conduct of yesterday's Civil Defence Mock Drill. Feedback was also received from Pu Anil Shukla IPS, DGP, and other meeting members. It was noted that the public's compliance with yesterday's "blackout" exercise was not satisfactory, falling short of expectations.

The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) from each district also presented reports via video conferencing on the status of "Vital Installations" in their respective districts in today’s meeting.
