Lawngtlai, the 21st May, 2021: A review meeting on the ongoing total lockdown being imposed to control and prevent further spread of COVID-19 within Lawngtlai District was held today at DC's Conference Hall, Lawngtlai under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika.

The meeting was attended by officials from District Administration, Police, Medical and I&PR, Zonal Officers, representatives of VLTFs within Lawngtlai town, CYLA and District MJA. They discussed and reviewed various issues related to the ongoing total lockdown with suggestions for better implementation of the lockdown as a preventive measure against COVID-19 in the District.

It was reported in the meeting that there was a good cooperation between District Administration, Police, Medical, Executive Duty, VLTFs, NGOs, journalists and general public in the fight against COVID-19. Lai Autonomous District Council's extension of support towards Medical Team regarding vaccination and Chakma Autonomous District Council's support for setting up and maintenance of Covid Care Centre at Chawngte were also appreciated.

It was reported that Rs 2,50,000/- (Rupees two lakh fifty thousand) was received from Chief Minister's Relief Fund for COVID-19 by Lawngtlai District as immediate relief to families affected by the ongoing lockdown. Apart from this, District Level Task Force on COVID-19 has received Rs 5,000/- (Rupees five thousand) from Zoram Drivers Union (ZDU), Sub-Headquarters Lawngtlai and Rs 1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh) from Ngurnunsangi English School Alumni (NESA) recently for use in the fight against COVID-19 in Lawngtlai District.
