Dated Aizawl, the 9th June, 2025 : Prof. Lalnilawma, Minister for Rural Development & Administration Department launched the Panchayat Advancement Index 1.0 Report Card in his office on Friday, 6th June.
The Minister expressed his appreciation to the Department Officials and the Village Council members who contributed to the preparation of the PAI 1.0 Report Card. He emphasized the importance of the PAI Report Card as a tool for assessing the progress of villages towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the need for Village Councils to effectively implement government initiatives. He commended Suarhliap Village Council in Mamit District for achieving the highest score in Mizoram with 68.89 marks and also requested the Village Councils and the Department to work together to bring out an improved Report Card 2.0 and also win the National Panchayat Award.
During the event, Pu Chuauhnuna, Director of the Local Administration Department, elaborated on the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI). He stated that the Sustainable Development Goals have been translated to Localisation of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs), aggregating the 17 global goals into 9 thematic areas relevant to Panchayats and villages. The PAI Report Card serves as a key tool to assess the progress and status of each village in implementing LSDGs. He stressed that the PAI data will be essential for planning new development initiatives at the village level and for enabling Village Councils to compete for the National Panchayat Award.
In PAI 1.0, there are 384 Mandatory Indicators and 124 Optional Indicators, making a total of 508 Indicators. The score-sheet is presented below.
The reference year for the PAI 1.0 Report Card is the Financial Year 2022-2023. Preparations are currently underway for PAI 2.0, which will have its reference year as FY 2023-2024. The PAI Report Card is available for viewing at pai.gov.in/, and its launch event can also be viewed on the Local Administration Department’s YouTube channel.
