No.310/2020-2021
In today's meeting chaired by School Education Minister Pu Lalchhandama Ralte at the Conference Hall, MINECO, it was decided to close all schools and hostels during the 'Covid-19 No Tolerance Fortnight' which is to be observed throughout Mizoram from 26th October, 2020.
The School Education Minister stated that this decision had to be taken keeping in view the imminent widespread of the Covid virus among students of Class X and XII, who are to face their Board examinations early next year, and hence schools and hostels had been opened for them from 16th October, 2020. However, if the pandemic situation improved and community spread could be contained during the Fortnight, schools and hostels were likely to be re-opened after 9th October, he also added. He also reiterated that the health and safety of the students must remain a priority and that all SOP issued by the government must be strictly adhered to in every school and hostel.
It was also decided in today's meeting that as the MBSE registration for candidates appearing for the Board Exams next year was in process, arrangements be made by respective school authorities to ensure this was not disrupted, and also to ensure that the students do not miss lessons by continuing their tuitions through online classes.
Today's meeting was attended by School Education Commissioner & Secretary Pi Esther Lalruatkimi, School Education Director Pu James Lalrinchhana, other Education dept. officers, SCERT officials, as well as representatives from the Higher Secondary School Principal Council, HISSLAM, MISSTA and MISA.
