A team of Socio Economic Development Board, led by Pu H. Biakzaua, MLA, also a Vice Chairman of SEDP Agriculture Development Board visit Serchhip today. A meeting is held at DC Meeting Hall with leaders of various farming associations, representatives of NGOs, Media persons and related officials under the chairmanship of Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, IAS, DC Serchhip.
In this meeting, Pu H. Biakzaua, MLA give his brief about the visit that it is to achieve higher scale of agricultural production in our state amidst the current pandemic impact economic slowdown, and to encourage the farmers across the state for their significances in economy as well as to obtain their obstacles in their cultivation. He express his sincere thanks to the attendants for their valuable time spared with them for the same. He said that the present annual rice production is around 60000MT in Mizoram while the requirement is around 180000 MT. In order to increase our production to meet the requirement gap, we need to increase our farming area and emphasis cultivate our main food Rice across the state. We have to prepare for the imminent pandemic impact scarcity of foods across the globe, he added. Other board members also deliver their intentions for the enhancement of agricultural production in Mizoram for the coming economic uncertainty. He handed over a gift of Rs. 5000 to the District Level Task Force on Covid19 for their expenditures.
Pu C. Lalnithanga, DAO Serchhip and PI M. Vanlalzami, DHO give a brief presentation on their department initiatives within the district. Representatives of farmers and NGOs also expressed their problems and ideas for the development of agricultural production.
Chairman Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, IAS give his welcome address and gratitude to the team for their visit and for their gift and also to all attendants for the success of the visit. He said his hope that this programme shall bear a valuable outcomes in the district in future.
After having this interaction session with the district people, the team visit Zawlpui and its surrounding cultivation area, and then proceed to Aizawl thereafter.
