Mizoram State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Excise & Narcotics Department and Champhai District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organized seminar on legal services to the victims of drugs abuse and eradication of drug menace, on thursday (28.11.2019) at I&PR Auditorium, CHANEM Champhai.
At the inaugural programme Pu Vanlalenmawia, MJS, Member Secretary, Mizoram State Legal Services Authority stressed the importance of conducting a meticulous investigation procedures for Police and Excise Officers, every steps of investigation should be given due care and deal cautiously so that the culprits do not walk away unpunished. He also urged the Judicial Officers to cooperate with the Police and Excise Officers and study the investigation reports thoroughly. The war against drug menace does not solely rely on the shoulders of security personnels, but demanded the collective efforts of all responsible citizens, he added. He told the security personnels to concentrate on the seminar and learn something worthwhile from the experts.
At the Seminar, Pu Peter Zohmingthanga, Assistant Commissioner, Excise & Narcotics Department elaborated ‘Drug Law Enforcement under ND&PS Act’. Pu R.Vanlalena, MJS, Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Champhai District highlighted an overview of ND&PS Act, and gave lecture on ‘Short coming in investigation and Procedure leading to acquittal’. Discussion and certificates distribution took place which was followed by vote of thanks proposed by Pi Lalrochami Ralte, MJS, Secretary, Champhai District Legal Services Authority.
The Seminar was attended by Police Officers, Excise Officers, DLSA members, SLSA members and Journalists.
