Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Government of Mizoram organised a sensitisation workshop on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) at DC's Conference Hall, Lawngtlai for the line departments.
The workshop was chaired by Addl DC Lawngtlai Pu K. Laltlawmlova. Principal Adviser cum Additional Secretary of P&PI Department Pu Saihlira delivered a welcome and keynote address. There were powerpoint presentations on "Concept & overview of SDG and Localisation of SDGs" by Pu C. Vanlalzawna, Consultant (SDG) and on "SDGs Indicator: National, State and District Indicators & Way Forward" by Pu C. Lalnunmawia, Consultant (SDG), followed by a session of discussion and interaction. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks proposed by District Research Officer Pi H. Chhunkungi.
Sustainable Development Goals 17 global goals set in 2015 by United Nations General Assembly to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by the year 2030. India also adopted these goals and NITI Aayog has been assigned the role of overseeing the implementation. The 17 SDGs and the 169 associated targets comprehensively cover social, economic and environmental dimensions of development and focus on ending poverty.
