Dated Champhai, the 8th April, 2021: DRDA Champhai in collaboration with MZU Incubation Centre today conducted programme for sensitization of VC members within Champhai District on two topics; ‘Time and Motion Studies under Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MGNREGA)’ and ‘Baseline Survey on Formulation of District Skill Plan for Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)’ at I&PR Auditorium, CHANEM. Deputy Commissioner Champhai Pi Maria C.T. Zuali graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, the Chief Guest mentioned the proposal to alter the implementation method of MGNREGA, it will be based on demand driven, performance of labours, standard time taken by MGNREGS workers to produce a specific quantity of output across different agro ecological zones and seasons, she added. She also said that the time and motion studies under MGNREGA in Mizoram was started at the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD & PR) in 2018 and for the new proposal, the schedule of rate of wages to be adopted is being prepared by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) Hyderabad. Also the Deputy Commissioner added that the District Skill Committee has already selected 12 job roles for youths and is under process to train them under PMKVY.

Today’s sensitization programme was chaired by Pu R.Lalnghakliana PD, DRDA Champhai. Pi R.Lalnunkimi, BDO Champhai gave brief outlines on ‘Time and motion studies under MGNREGA in Mizoram’ followed by PMKVY related topic ‘Formulation of District Skill Plan’ by experts from Mizoram University (MZU), Incubation Centre.
