Mizoram Legislators today attended one day workshop on poverty reduction and Disaster Management organised by the state DP&AR(Training Wing) and Administrative Training Institute.

In his inaugurating remarks, the Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly Pu R.Romawia urged the Legislators to be conscious of the suggestions and advise of  experts. Since Mizoram falls within zone 5 of  earthquake prone area,  he stated that it is important to be cautious and mindful of the laws laid down by authorities while constructing houses.

The Chief Secretary, Pu Vanhela Pachuau who presided over the programme also stated that the frequent occurence of disasters within the country has roused the State Governments alongwith the Center to initiate various steps to counteract against disasters.

The state DP&AR Minister Pu H. Liansailova formally closed today's workshop in the evening which was well attended by Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and other members of the state Legislative Assembly.
