16th July, 2024 : In a proactive move towards district development, Serchhip Deputy Commissioner (DC) Paul L. Khuma convened a meeting with members of the Serchhip District Mizoram Journalists' Association (MJA) at the DC's meeting hall today.
DC Pu Paul L. Khuma outlined his vision for the district, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and convergence between different government departments and the public. He highlighted the "Digital District" and "Green District" initiatives as key priorities, underscoring the need for innovative and out-of-the-box thinking in district development efforts.
The DC urged the public to make greater use of the Mipui Aw platform (mipuiaw.mizoram.gov.in), which allows citizens to report problems and complaints directly to the government. He also emphasized the importance of the Mizoram Right to Public Services Act (MRPSA), a law that enables public monitoring of government activities. Pu Paul L Khuma also mentioned that the Result Framework Document (RFD) is currently being studied to assess its feasibility for implementation in Serchhip District.
Acknowledging the vital role of the media in shaping public opinion, DC Pu Paul L.Khuma expressed hope that journalists would continue their efforts to support the district's development. During the meeting, journalists raised several pressing issues affecting the community, including the damage caused by Cyclone Remal, the ongoing construction of NH-54, the challenges faced by pig farmers due to African Swine Fever (ASF), drug control measures, and various community concerns.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from both the administration and the media to work together towards the betterment of Serchhip District.
