A nationwide Pradhan Mantri Mantru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) Award Ceremony is held today at Banquet Hall, Ashok Hotel, New Delhi by Ministry of Women & Child Development. In this award ceremony Serchhip District, Mizoram state top the country and awarded first rank.

The Award is given away by honourable Minister of Women & Child Development, Shri Smriti Zubin Irani to Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Serchhip, accompanied by Pi Vanlalpianpuii, Director, Women & Child Development Department, Government of Mizoram leh F. Hmingthankimi , PMMVY Serchhip District Programme Co-ordinator in this ceremony.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a maternity benefit program run by the government of India. It was introduced in 2016 and is implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It is a conditional cash transfer scheme for pregnant and lactating women of 19 years of age or above for the first live birth. It provides a partial wage compensation to women for wage-loss during child birth and child care and to provide conditions for safe delivery and good nutrition and feeding practices.  Since it inception in Serchhip 1.1.2017 as many as 1812 pregnant women were cover under the scheme and Rs. 77,66,000 have been disbursed for the same till today.
