Top political leaders of Siaha district belonging to MNF, BJP and INC party, namely:
1)Dr.K.Beichhua,Hon'ble Minister of State i/c SWD, Excise & Narcotics, AH&Vety etc belonging to MNF party; who is also an MLA from 39-Siaha AC,Siaha district.
2)Shri.KT.Rokhaw,MLA from 40-Palak AC,Siaha district.
3) Shri.N.Zakhai, the Incumbent CEM of Mara Autonomous District Council(MADC) took a whirlwind 3days tour across the whole district, propagating the importance of self reliance in rice and other staple food to combat the Famine that migth follow Covid-19 crisis soon, at the same time the trio vehamently thanked VLTFs who have assiduously guarded their respective villages and entry points at the inter-state and International borderline; for their dedicated and utmost sincerity in rendering their duties during 1st & 2nd Covid-19 lockdown.They also implored them not to let down their guard during the 3rd phase Covid-19 lockdown as well, as the most devastating and severest wave of covid-19 pandemic migth strike during this phase, they alerted.
The 3 leaders separately had tour their respective constituencies earlier and visited VLTF's duty posts to boost up their morale and also distributing Hand Sanitizers, Mask, gloves, food items etc. along with CM's relief Fund.
At the behest and initiatives of Hon'ble Minister Dr.K.Beichhua, a Committee called Siaha District Covid-19 Food Security Consultative Committee (SDC-FSCC) to combat impending Famine; was constituted on the 16th April,2020, with Minister himself at the helm, as Chairman, Shri.KT.Rokhaw and Shri.N.Zakhai as Vice Chairman and Shri.Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS, DC of Siaha as Member Secretary and 15 others as Committee members.
The first task SDC-FSCC embarked upon was to conduct Agriculture and Allied baseline survey to ascertain data of Fish pond, Livestocks, Food items, arable land, Paddy field left unused etc. available in the district. The Survey team had submitted their findings and accordingly The SDC-FSCC had procured 80quintals of Maize seeds, some qauntity of Paddy seeds which will be distributed to all the villages who were in shortage of it. The Committee had also engaged Earth Movers Association of Siaha district to extend helping hand in cutting new paddy field, and also requested 6 Tractor tiller from GoM to plough Paddy field left unused as immediate measures to combat Famine.As of now SDC-FSCC has no revenue at all, it expected a donation from 2 MLAs and CEM and invited all the like minded citizens of Siaha district to chip-in too.
The villagers of Siaha district were amazed at the spectacular sigth of their 3 top leaders touring together and speaking in one voice about impending Famine and how to take pre-emptive measures etc.. with a sense of pride, joy,unity and urgency.
Seizing the opportunity of the villagers' mood, let our coming together as one be a signal to you all that, there is no time for Polictical bickering, it's a time to set aside all our political differences, It's a time to think for our survival, united we survive, devided we perish the trio shouted-out loud.
Many initiatives have taken afoot to combat the imminent shortage of food supply due to Covid-19 crisis, under the able leadership of Hon'ble minister.
Dr.K.Beichhua urged the villagers to adopt a policy of killing 2 birds with one stone by going to jhum/ Paddy field. He gleefully explained to the villagers if you go to the jhum to toil & moil; you then abide by gov't's social distancing order; and you will also be producing food for your family as well" he quipped.
