Lawngtlai, 12th October 2026 : Following the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct a Special Drive during October, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Special Drive is being carried out in full swing across Lawngtlai District.

The Special Drive is being conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at polling stations across the district's three Assembly Constituencies, namely 36-Tuichawng (ST), 37-Lawngtlai West (ST) and 38-Lawngtlai East (ST).

As part of the drive, BLOs have prepared lists of electors whose names appeared in the electoral rolls before the SIR but were not included in the Final Electoral Roll published after the revision. The BLOs are visiting the homes of these individuals to verify their details and inform them about the necessary steps to enrol themselves in the electoral roll.

Eligible Indian citizens whose names are missing from the electoral roll are being encouraged to apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6. The drive also aims to identify and enrol new eligible voters, particularly those who have attained the age of 18 years.

The lists prepared by the BLOs are also being shared with Booth Level Agents (BLAs). Following field verification, the BLOs will submit the lists to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for further necessary action.

Applicants submitting Form 6 will be required to attend hearings before the ERO/AERO. Booth Level Camps will also be organised as required, depending on the needs and convenience of the public.

The SIR Special Drive commenced on 8th October 2026 and is scheduled to continue throughout the month of October.
