Aizawl, the 17th February, 2025: The State Minister for Sports & Youth Services (SYS) Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar today called on the Governor Gen (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) at Raj Bhawan to discuss the progress and development of sports in Mizoram.

In this courtesy meeting, the Governor acknowledged Mizoram’s potential in sports and particularly lauded the achievement in the field of football. He expressed his appreciation for Mizoram’s Vision Olympics 2036 initiative and mentioned his discussions with the Union Sports Minister to promote sports related activitie in the state.

Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar highlighted the state’s flagship program, 'Bana Kaih', under which Empowering Mizoram Sports will be implemented. He informed the Governor about plans to promote sports talent at the grassroots level and urged support for Mizoram’s young athletes. He also reiterated the importance of recognizing and encouraging local sports talents to bring honor to the state.

As the Minister for Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Excise & Narcotics Department, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also briefed the Governor on the role of sports in curbing drug abuse and its growing impact on employment opportunities in Mizoram.
