Aizawl, the 15th September, 2021: To mark the completion of 75th years of Independence and honor the freedom struggle and its heroes, as part of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebration, Champhai District a long with the rest of the country, yesterday kicked off the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Cleanliness Campaign under the Swachhata Shramdaan at Circuit House.
The inaugural event was attended by members of the District Water Sanitation Mission, Celebrities, Students and Media, which was followed by the Swachhata Shramdaan at three locations in and around Champhai Town.
The participants mainly comprising of Students were apprised of the components of different steps taken under Swachh Bharat Mission by innovative speakers including celebrities.
The programme organised by PHED Champhai was graced by Pi Maria C.T Zuali, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) as the Chief Guest and kicked off the campaign with a short speech.
As part of the ongoing program under the celebration 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', series of activities are lined up like resolution on eliminating Single Use Plastic, observation of Swachh Bharat Diwas are the prominent features among others.
