Aizawl the 24th April, 2024: Taxation Department Site Office at Aizawl Municipal Corporation Office has become operational from today, as recommended by Pu Lalrinenga Sailo, Mayor and the officials of Taxation Department. At this Site Office, Pu H. Lalramsanga, Assistant Commissioner of State Tax will act as 'GST Facilitator' and will be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays. He will be assisted by one State Tax Officer.

In the inaugural programme, Pu C. Vanlalchhuana, Joint Commissioner of State Tax & GST Nodal Officer and Pu Hrangthanmawia, Asst. Commissioner of State Tax & GST Nodal Officer addressed the gathering. A report on the Site Office was also given by Officer-in-Charge/GST Facilitator, Pu H. Lalramsanga, Asst. Commissioner of State Tax. Today's programme was also attended by the STOs under GST Investigation Cell.

The purpose of the Taxation Site Office is to simplify the payment of taxes regarding various work contracts/supplies etc. under Aizawl Municipal Corporation and the tax officials are expected to guide taxpayers. The ambit of the site will include Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Profession Tax, and assistance will be given to the applicants of GST registration.

GST is mandatory for contract workers and suppliers with an annual turnover of Rs. 10 Lakhs (for service providers) and Rs. 20 lakhs (for goods), and they must be registered under GST. This also includes works contract service and material supply. Tax evasion is a serious offence punishable by law, and hence, this Site Office has been introduced to remove any obstacles and hurdles for taxpayers.
