Before their departure, Lt.Gen(Rtd.) Nirhbhay Sharma, the Governor of Mizoram meets  6 Special Athletes and their Team Leader competing in the  Special Olympics,2015,at  the Raj Bhavan,  yesterday. After sharing words of encouragement during a short function at the Durbar Hall, the Governor then flagged  off  the athletes bound for Los Angeles.

In his interaction with the differently abled athletes, the  Governor expresses  his admiration at their unique abilities and  enthusiasm . He assured them of the support they already  have from the State Government and people of Mizoram. Sharing some encouraging lines from the lives Mahatma Gandhi, Mothers Teresa and the heroics of India’s own ‘Blade Runner’ Major Devendra Singh Pal, he reminded the athletes  of their special talents and advised them to bank on their indomitable spirits to earns laurels for India at the grand stage in Los Angeles.

The selected 6 athletes and their Team leader are among 301 people representing India at the Special Olympics, 2015 in Los Angeles from July 23 to 3^rd August, 2015. The athletes from Mizoram will compete in 11 a-side football, 7 a –side unified football, 100 metre race and 200 metre race.
