Aizawl the 22nd May, 2023 : Thenzawl Calling festival, a joint initiative of the Mizoram Tourism Department; Deputy Commissioner, Serchhip District and SDO (C), Thenzawl commenced on 19th May, 2023. Pi Nazuk Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Serchhip District, graced the inaugural function as Chief Guest.

The Chief Guest warmly welcomed all the attendees and expressed her joy at the organization of a tourism festival in Thenzawl, a renowned tourist destination. She acknowledged the good fortune of Mizoram, which boasts a picturesque landscape and enjoys pleasant weather year-round, making it an ideal place for tourists. Pi Nazuk Kumar expressed her optimism that the newly launched Tourism App would be widely used by the public. Furthermore, she urged the people to prioritize skill development, as the growth of the tourism sector would create numerous job opportunities that would require specific skills.

The festival commenced at 3pm with the participation of Self Help Groups affiliated under the BDO Office, who organized a cooking competition. Following the inaugural programme, a Rock Band competition took place. The festival also featured Golf Tournament, Cooking Competition, Cultural Dance Competition and an exhibition showcasing the artistry of the local handloom and handicrafts.

Pi C. Ramsangzuali, Tourist Officer, Tourism Department presided over the inaugural function. Pi Zonunthari, Deputy Secretary, Tourism Department delivered the welcome speech, extending warm greetings to all the attendees. Pi Lalthakimi Pachuau, Joint Director, Tourism Department proposed the vote of thanks for the successful inaugural function.
