It has come to the knowledge of the Mizoram State Commission for Protection of Child Rights that the recent judgment on an under-aged rape case and a suicide linked to poor matric examination result has been widely circulated on social media platforms. The Commission expresses deep concernt about the publication of such information, as it strongly implies the names and personal details of the underage victims, in violation of their rights.

Publication of names, address, photos, name of schools etc. or any other information which can lead to the identification of the underage victim or juvenile offender is strictly prohibited under Section 23 of The Prevention of Children From Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. The Commission is committed to taking swift and proactive action to address any such violations in the future. The Commission also urges the media and the general public to collaborate in safeguarding the rights and privacy of underage individuals.

Mizoram State Commission for Protection of Child Rights is committed to actively work to create a safe and supportive environment for children and to prevent any harm or violation of their rights.
