Lawngtlai, the 17th November, 2020: Training of Presiding Officers (PROs) and 1st & 2nd Polling Officers for the upcoming general election to the Member of District Council (MDC) under the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) to be held on 4th December, 2020 commenced today at Govt Region Higher Secondary School, Lawngtlai.

A total of 478 polling officials are appointed to man 111 polling stations within LADC area. Training is scheduled in phase with limited numbers of trainees at a time in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Sector officers' briefing was also held today at DC's Conference Hall in which briefing on important matters was carried out by District Election Officer Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika and Election Officer Pu Lalneihthanga Colney alongwith hands-on demonstration on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

The entire LADC area is divided into 19 sectors covering all 25 MDC Constituencies. Each sector is assigned to 1 sector officer, above which 4 additional sector officers are put on reserve.

All officials appointed for duty in the LADC MDC election had first to undergo testing for COVID-19 before being allowed to attend the trainings.
