A sensitisation training on two health care schemes to be implemented within Mizoram with effect from this coming October, namely the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and the Mizoram State Health Care Scheme (MSHCS), was organised today at the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)'s Conference Hall, Lawngtlai.

The training was for Medical staff, health workers, accredited social health activists (ASHAs), village council members and non-governmental organisations. It was chaired by Pi MC Zomawii, CMO office, Lawngtlai and Dr K. Vanduhtlinga, Medical Officer, Mizoram State Health Care Society was the resource person. Besides a presentation by the resource person, a session of questions and answers and thorough discussions was there.

The schemes will come into effect from 1st October, 2019 within Mizoram. Families in the deprived list of the Socio Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 and the Smart Card holders under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) for the year 2018 will be eligible for the AB-PMJAY. It will provide a defined benefit cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year. On the other hand, MSHCS is for those who are not eligible for AB-PMJAY and other medical reimbursements from the government. The benefit cover is Rs 2 lakh per family per year.

Golden Cards for AB-PMJAY can be issued by all government hospitals beforehand or at the time of admission into hospital. Registration for MSHCS is to be done during September - October, 2019 and there is a registration fee of Rs 100/- for BPL families and Rs 1,000/- for APL families.
