Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Mizoram and National Health Mission (NHM) today conducted training on Health Management Information System (HMIS) at I&PR Conference Hall, CHANEM, Champhai. HMIS is a major Health Services Reporting System in India which is a data collection system specifically designed to support planning, management, and decision making in health facilities and organizations. 

Pu C.Vanlalsiamthara, Consultant, HMIS (State) and Pu Lalbiaksanga, State Data Manager were the resource persons. Trainees included Medical Officers and Block Accounts Managers within CMO Champhai area. 

In Mizoram, NHIM reporting system has been put into operation in 370 Sub-Centre (SC), 57 Primary Health Centres (PHC), 8 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC), 9 Community Health Centres (CHC), 2 Sub-District Hospitals (SDH), 9 District Hospitals (DH) and 14 Private Hospitals.   

Health Management Information System (HMIS) was launched in October 2008 and the same year it was implemented in Mizoram. It has been put in place by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India to monitor the National Health Mission and other Health programmes. The HMIS Portal facilitates the flow of physical performance from the facility level to the Sub-district, District, State and National level using a web based Health Management Information System (HMIS) interface. The portal provides periodic reports on the status of the health services performances, human resources and infrastructure services facilities available.
