Pi Marli Vankung, Secretary, Law & Judicial Department had inaugurated a Two Day National Workshop on Gender Equity Initiatives for Institutional Head of various institutes and colleges which is  organised by The Institute of Advanced Studies in Education(IASE) at the Institute's Conference Hall, today.

In her inaugural address, Pi Marli Vankung has highlighted various initiatives that are taken up by the Government on Gender Equity related issues. On advocating  the importance of awareness campaign, she had expressed her disappointment that most of the  initiatives  on Gender Equity  are largely unknown to  the general public in Mizoram, till date ." It is very important that men have to accept the fact that women and men are equal.  A woman has every right to have a sense of security that a man enjoys in a society", she said.  She had also hinted that lack of awareness on these initiatives could also be the reason why there is no known complaint relating to Sexual harassment of Women at the Workplace in Mizoram.

The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Vanlalhruaii, Principal, IASE who gave  brief  introduction on the themes of the workshop  and the resource persons. The faculty and students of IASE, the directors, Principals, Head of Departments and other invitees were attending the workshop today.
