As a part of its ongoing efforts to transform Mizoram’s Education System to ensure quality education, the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) yesterday organized a two days ‘Training on Question Setting Technique’ for teachers of High School and Higher Secondary Schools at Art & Culture Auditorium, Venglai. Lalrinmawia Ralte, Academic Officer and F.Ricky Lalremruatpuia, Regional Officer MBSE were the Resource Persons.

MBSE, with its team of highly dedicated officers and staff, is making an all out effort to create the right ecosystem essential for imparting quality education in Mizoram. Though the pass percentage in Mizoram Board Examinations have been steadily increasing over the years, the performance of Mizo students in All India level Entrance and Competitive exams have not shown a corresponding improvement. Rather, the current scenario seems to indicate that Mizo students are lagging behind their counterparts from the rest of the country in many respects. Recognizing the need to immediately address this issue at the grassroots level, the MBSE is now focused on transitioning from ‘content-based question’ to ‘competency based question’ which will require the students to grasp concepts and also encourage lateral thinking in them.

The Government of Mizoram had in 2015 introduced the Integrated Evaluation Scheme (IES) from the academic session of 2016 - 2017 onwards with an aim to broaden the scope of evaluation and thereby utilize it for diagnosis and remedial teaching. A new updated version of the IES software with User Manual was also distributed to the trainees present.
