The Deputy Commissioner Lunglei Pi K.Lalrinzuali yesterday inaugurated the Mizoram Rural Bank (MRB) Regional Office at Venglai, Lunglei (OPP Saikuti Hall). MRB Chairman Pu V.Jaya Chandra, MRB Staff, Government officials, mediapersons were in attendance.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Deputy Commissioner thanked and congratulated the Mizoram Rural Bank for setting up a Regional Office at Lunglei, which she said, would be of immense help for the economic growth of the region. Touching upon the NPA problems in the region, she advised the general public, especially loan seekers, to be diligent in repaying their liabilities to the Banks. She also encouraged the Bankers to reach out to the District administration on any issues that they might face while discharging their duties.

Mizoram Rural Bank presently has 85 branches spread across all the RD Blocks of the state with a Head Office in Aizawl and now two Regional Offices. The newly opened Regional Office will cater to 6 Districts of the State. With 432 regualr employees, the Bank had a deposit of Rs. 2595 crore and loan disbursement of Rs. 179 crore in the last financial year (2018-19)
