The visiting Union Minister for Statistics & Programme Implementation Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda  held discussion  with the State Officials and representatives from NHIDCL, Railways and other PSU’s  at Secretariat Conference Hall, Aizawl, today. 

At the outset of the meeting Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda was given a briefing on the state's initiatives on  some key schemes and projects with their current status and progress by the State's Planning Minister Shri Lalsawta who was delivering his welcome address on behalf of the state government. During his opening remarks and keynote address the visiting Union Minister point out  that Mizoram is doing exceedingly well on implementing MPLADS, which he thought would be a role model for other Members of Parliament. He then went on to congratulate the Shri CL Ruala, the lone Lok Sabha MP from Mizoram who was also at the meeting. Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda was also pleased with the way Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) Scheme- a financial support provided to the State/UTs Governments for strengthening and capacity building of their statistical systems was implemented by the state government.  Citing the needs to accelerate the key Schemes and Central Sector Projects in the North Eastern reason with the Central Government’s commitment of Act East Policy, the Union Minister was stressing the needs for progress in particular areas like NF Railways Project and National Highways projects in the state. He said that faster completion of key projects in the Northeast Region are vital as they are also not only the interest of the region but it is also eagerly awaited by all the other states in India.  On the progress of Railways Project to construct railroad from Bairabi to Sairang(Near Aizawl) he express his concern and said, “The delay in completion of railroad construction in Mizoram is causing heavy loss for the people of Mizoram. The Central Government is open to clear the hurdles that are hindering the project. For that the cooperation from the state Government and the people would be very helpful.” 

He then went on to invite presentations from the officials on the subjects of SSS Scheme, MPLADS, Road Projects taken up by National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation(NHIDCL)  and Railways Projects which were followed by discussions.
