Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan today inaugurated Mizoram University Incubation Centre at Mizoram University, Tanhril. A short function was held at the Administrative Conference Hall to commemorate the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor said that Mizoram University is the pride of Mizoram and will soon be the pride of India, and with the inauguration of the Centre, it will be of immense value to the State and the entire region. He said that India’s destiny depends on the quality of the entrepreneurs and the way they build themselves for the future of the country. Chief Guest Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan said that, in this highly competitive world, the new generation has neither the time to waste nor relax. He also stressed on the need to have higher benchmark for education and that innovation was the key to entrepreneurship. He hoped that Mizoram University Incubation Centre would step in as a vanguard of innovative entities, evolving into Start-ups and moving towards drivers of economic growth, for both the State and the country.
Mizoram University Vice Chancellor Prof. KRS Sambasiva Rao said that it was a golden day for the University, as every University would like to have its own Incubation Centre. He also said that Incubation Centres have to cater to the needs of those people having novel ideas and innovative thinking and provide them facilities where they can work with their ideas. He said the Incubation Centre was open to those people interested to work in those fields apart from their curriculum and will become a boon for the State. He also congratulated the CEO, the Coordinator and other members of the Incubation Centre for its materialization.
Meanwhile, Coordinator Dr. Laldinliana gave a brief report on the Incubation Centre since its inception and the achievements made. He said that the Centre has incubated three Start-ups till date and are expecting few more soon.
Mizoram University Incubation Centre is the first of its kind (a NIDHI Technology Business Incubator powered by Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of India) ever to be hosted by a Central University in India’s eastern region. The 10.75 crore project is housed in state-of-the-art centre spanning 20000 sq. feet area, equipped with 3D rooms and fabrication/ prototype lab.
