15 Officer -Trainees of 2017 Batch of the Indian Economic Service called upon the Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram Kummanam Rajasekharan at Raj Bhavan today.

During the interaction, the Governor advised them to always work for the less privileged, those who are struggling to meet their basic needs and try to find means on alleviating their poverty. He said that their attention should be on the deprived, untouched by fruits of administration and should try to raise their standard of living while utilizing their manpower for the all round development of the country.

The Trainees admired the social infrastructure, the gender equity and the level of Gross State Domestic Product that the state has achieved despite its geographical conditions. They were impressed with the government’s detailed database of households and the manner in which it carries out BPL survey, which is missing in other States. They said that extensive study could be made on the survey and be replicated in other parts of the country. The trainees also said that they were apprised of the government’s flagship programme New Economic Development Policy (NEDP) and its Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (EDS).
