A meeting of Veterinary, Fishery & Sericulture Board under the state flagship programme Socio Economic Development Programme (SEDP) chaired by Minister of State for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Dr. K. Beichhua who is also the Chairman of the Board was held in his office at MINECO today. The meeting was attended by Pu C. Lalmuanpuia, MLA and Vice Chairman of the Board, Board Members and officials of the three line Departments.
Speaking about the flagship programme Dr. K. Beichhua said that the one of the aims of SEDP was to provide sustainable and viable means of livelihoods to the people for generation of income and towards this end the Board is an important component of SEDP, he further said. He informed the meeting that 300 sericulture farmers in Mamit District and 620 beneficiaries in Veterinary sector had been selected and assistance would be given to them by the end of March.
The meeting reviewed the steps taken by the concerned Departments towards implementation of the SEDP schemes and charted courses of action for the same.
