46 Assam Rifles based in Aizawl under the aegis of 23 Sector Assam Rifles conducted a series of events to keep alive the essence of Vijay Diwas. The activities included Lecture on Indo-Pak war of 1971, and Weapon Display at COBs/POB and movie screening, National Anthem, weapon Display and Drawing/Poem/ Wrist Band making for Kids at Battalion Headquarters. The said drive was attended by 103 persons (including 45 Children) at COBs/ POB and two Officers, seven JCOs, 127 other ranks and 25 Children at Battalion Headquarters.

Vijay Diwas (Victory Day) is commemorated every year on 16th December in India and Bangladesh to observe Indian military's victory over Pakistan in War of 1971 for the liberation of Bangladesh from Pakistan. The end of the war resulted in the unilateral and unconditional surrender of the Pakistan Army and subsequent secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh. On this day in 1971, the chief of the Pakistani forces, General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, along with 93,000 troops, surrendered to the allied forces consists of Indian Army and Mukti Bahini, led by General Jagjit Singh Aurora, at Ramna Race Course, now Suhrawardy Udyan, in Dhaka after their defeat in the war.
