Kolasib, May 29, 2025 – The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), a pre-Kharif season campaign, was launched today at Venglai Bazar in Kolasib. The inaugural function was chaired by Pu Joseph Lalnuntluanga, District Agriculture Officer (DAO) of Kolasib District, with Kolasib Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pu Robert C. Lalhmangaiha attending as the chief guest.

In his address, the chief guest, Pu Robert C. Lalhmangaiha, stated that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a significant government initiative designed to benefit farmers and livestock breeders. He expressed confidence in the campaign's success, noting that it will provide crucial training to farmers directly in their own villages on improved crop cultivation techniques.

The DC emphasized that the campaign is a vital part of the Prime Minister's "Viksit Bharat" vision, which aims to make India a developed nation. "This pre-Kharif campaign is a cornerstone for the country's progress, as it promotes self-reliance in agriculture and ensures food security," he said. He strongly urged all farmers in Kolasib District to actively participate in the training sessions as the campaign reaches their localities.

Dr. Michelle Lallawmkimi, Senior Scientist and Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), elaborated on the objectives of the campaign. She explained that the VKSA is a key component of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for achieving national food security. She stated that the 15-day campaign will conclude on June 12. During this period, experts from KVK, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the state departments of Agriculture, DRDO,Horticulture, Veterinary, and Fisheries, among others, will visit 60 villages to conduct training for farmers.

The event drew a large number of local farmers, who actively engaged in an interactive session with the officials and experts present. The program also included short, educational talks by specialists to equip the farmers with valuable knowledge. Following the inaugural ceremony, the DC officially flagged off the campaign vehicles to begin their outreach across the district.
