Dated Hnahthial, the 29th May, 2025 : The nationwide campaign- Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was launched for Hnahthial and Lunglei District at Hnahthial DC office complex. Hosted by Dr. Henry Saplalrinliana, Sr Scientist & Head, KVK, three teams were flagged off by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Hnahthial District, Pu Zothanmawia Khiangte. The flag off saw support form various Village Council members and farmers who attended the programme.
Pu Zothanmawia Khiangte, Addl DC remarks on the nature of the campaign saying that even though India is one of the largest producers in the world in terms of agricultural produce, the amount of resources spent and the amount of produce are imbalanced suggesting an inefficient system of agricultural methods. As such, the central government has created this Campaign to impart knowledge to the farmers so as to have a better and more efficient produce which will result in a higher yield. He stated that this campaign will cover 700 districts in India and that Hnahthial and Lunglei District will function under one KVK. He also urged the teams to get as much feedback from the farmers and try their level best to identify and solve their problems.
An awareness programme regarding central schemes for farmers was held after this programme by experts of Agricultural & Allied sectors.
The campaign will cover a total of 99 villages in Hnahthial and Lunglei District covered by three (3) teams consisting of experts from Horticulture, Agriculture, AH&Vety, Sericulture and Fisheries. The teams will give aid to the farmers in enhancing their agricultural practices and methods of animal rearing providing modern and scientific solutions. The teams are also expected to give awareness on various central schemes beneficial to the farmers.
The Campaign will span for a period of 15 days i.e. from 29th May, 2025 to 12th June, 2025.
