In order to increase the number of  voluntary blood donors in Mizoram, 'State Workshop on Blood Donor Recruitment and Training of motivators' was jointly organised by Mizoram State AIDS Control Society(MSACS) and Association for Voluntary Blood Donation, Mizoram(AVBD) at I&PR Auditorium, Aizawl today. Mr.S.Laldingliana, Parliamentary Secretary, Health Department was  the Chief Guest of the Workshop attended by voluntary blood donors of Mizoram in full strength. Participants at the workshop were given training by experts which was followed by lively group discussion and interactions.

Parliamentary Secretary was pleased with the initiatives of AVBD and went on to state that those people, who voluntarily donated blood to the needy, were truly 'great men' any sense and terms. He had defined the voluntary blood donation as a great sacrifice and service not only to fellow human beings but also to God.He had also claimed the commendable achievement of Mizo women in voluntary blood donation( 20% of total blood donation in Mizoram) being noteworthy and a feat worthwhile for others to emulate. He had availed of  the opportunity at this workshop to plead to all the regular donors and others to come forward on June 14, the international day for voluntary blood donation, and donate their precious blood to a noble cause.

There were four seminar papers presented in the workshop courtesy to Dr. Sangthuama Ngente, Mr C.Lalnunnema, Dr.Lily Chhakchhuak and  Dr.R.Tlangkunga followed by lively discussion and interactions on the topics of '100% voluntary blood donation - how to reach the target' and  'Motivation -how far have we done?'. The workshop was concluded after vote of thanks and certificate distribution.
