Aizawl; the 11th October,2021: Shri Kulothungan A, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei distributed fourty six (46) Intel A26 smartphones to students belonging to BPL and AAY families of Lunglei District at a brief function held at his office Chamber today.

A sum of Rs. 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs) was sanctioned for this purpose by Mr.Rajiv Bora, Project Manager, Engineering Projects (India) Ltd. 46 smartphones which are priced at around Rs. 12,000/- each were distributed in this programme. The project was initiated by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei, in partnership with MSU, Regional Headquarters, Lunglei.

Thanking Engineering Projects (India) Ltd for their noble initiative, Shri Kulothungan A, IAS, Deputy Commissioner invited them to have more such interventions in the District in the future. He stated that as schools and colleges have not been able to commence owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, students have to continue their studies through online mode, and those without access to smartphones have struggled to keep pace with their peers. “Because of this noble initiative, students from disadvantaged background will now be able to access their online classes,” he stated, and expressed hope that the smartphones would give a boost to students in their academic journey.
